I'm still in a daze over yesterday. I can't believe the situation but it's reality.
Again: FIP is NOT contagious. Feline coronavirus IS. Most cats have been exposed to coronavirus. Illness, vaccines, and surgery can stress the body enough for the coronavirus to mutate into FIP. About 5-8% of cats have the genetic marker that allows the mutation. There is no way to know who can develop FIP.
Ray was sick along with several others a few months back. Was it coronavirus or something else? I'll never know. It happened. Now I deal with the fallout.
He took both shots really well. I didn't restrain him or anything. He cried when I pushed the serum but he didn't fight at all. His fever was 104.6 at the vet but it came down by the evening. Giving shots still gives me anxiety. I hope he continues to be so good but that probably won't last.
Sugar's meds came yesterday. Ray's will be here today. I have plenty of shot supplies leftover from Sugar.
I'm really about to give up on the rescue. Too many medical expenses, not enough support for daily needs, no physical help. It's just not sustainable the way things are going. I've given up my own life and needs but it's not enough. I continue to give from my empty cup....
Sorry. I'm just so burned out. Fractured in the soul. The rescue was supposed to be so much more.
Pity party at my place! Enjoy the pictures!
Be pawsome! Do pawsome! This is the way.
