OK, I took the whole weekend to get my head and heart back in order.
It's not 100% but better. It feels like life has been on hold since Mickey was diagnosed. Everything that has happened had me in a state of near paralysis mentally. Time to move forward.
Possum is doing great and I don't think it's FIP. I'll talk to Dr Floyd Wednesday and see if I should schedule his neuter. I think he's good to go.
Vlad's right eye is getting worse so I'm probably going to take him in. He has antibiotic and steroid ointments but they don't seem to be helping. Maybe a round of pred would help but there's not a lot to treat symblepheron.
Jolene is still limping some. It's not all the time so it's really weird. She shows no discomfort when I touch her paw or press/move it around so I don't have a clue. Dr Floyd is getting a lot of info Wednesday.
Mickey and Markus are doing great and I'm excited/freaking about labs Wednesday. Markus is totally normal! He sneezes sometimes and is still on Veraflox so I hope his results will show improvement from last month. Paws crossed!
On a rescue related note, I'm going to order microchips from a company that I got information on. It's $85 at the vet but $40 for 10 chips from said company. I'll discuss it first with the vet but since I can give a shot why not do my own microchips, too? They have full registration for rescues and adopters and the chips can be read by any reader.
Everyone else is doing great. Gia has decided, of his own free will, to continue staying in my room and I'm fine with that. Initially cats started staying in the room because Tuxie was such a bully to them or it was a medical need. Now most of them have no desire to ever venture out even with the door wide open! Not spoiled at all!
Speaking of spoiled, last night I made a "Spoil the Cats" Amazon wish list. It's just stuff for their comfort and not necessarily needed but I'll post it.
I'm going to concentrate on getting the rescue ahead but it's not easy. Food and litter are always needed. Vet needs pop up without warning. Mickey will need more treatment meds and will be moving up to Lucky 20 as she's gaining weight and injections take more of the 15. Lucky 20, of course, is more expensive and there have been delays because of all the ice storms so I don't want to wait until the last minute to order. $700 needed for that.
Yes, rescue is hard, expensive, and emotional but I took it on so I have to "nut up or shut up". I can now put the rest up on Petfinder after I get the microchips. Things will get better.
