The Legend of Alex "Cabbitcat" Snell
On July 4th, 2010 a hurricane hit Brownsville, Texas. Like Harvey, even though our area didn't take the hit, we got slammed by the backside and had major flooding. A mother cat and her 4 kittens were on the A/C block but still 3 inches in water. My step-son went out in the storm and was able to grab 3 kittens. Mama cat grabbed the 4th and ran up into a neighbor attic and we never saw them again.
Alex was named after the hurricane. His siblings got homes but he didn't so Jace claimed him as their own. He was only 4 weeks old, spicy, and hopped around like a rabbit; he was a Cabbit!
Cabbit loved Jace intensely! He hated me completely! I have a permanent bruise and scar from him attacking my leg one day. He despised other cats, too. Many times we tried to integrate him into the rest of the house but he refused to leave Jace's room. It was his sanctum sanctorium. He was happy where he was and so he was allowed to live as he chose.
No matter that he hated me, he's a cat, so I loved him as much as the others. He was completely Jace's cat. I knew it would only be his last day that I would be able to hold him. When I picked him up yesterday he still managed to hiss a little. He was Cabbit until his last breath.
